My name is Eddie A. Rosa Fuentes,  I am an Master of Divinity Candidate at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.  I am volunteering myself to do accompaniment program in Colombia, where I will be able to accompany people who has been victims and survivor of displacement because of the civil war Colombia is experiencing.  Colombia for more than 50 years is experiencing violence because of a war between the Guerrilla, the Para-Military and the Government and the community, specially the poor, has been affected by it.  I will be traveling in July to be there for a month where I will be providing accompaniment to the community and helping them however they feel convenience.  The money will be used for plane ticket, low budget living expenses, and probably ,some donations for the community and the program. 

I understand that this trip will not solve the problem Colombia has been facing for the last 50 years, however, it help some of the community affected but this violence.  Colombia is deep in my heart, and I want to help however the Colombians feel I can Help.  Thank you so much for allowing, and giving me the opportunity to be usefull in the mist of a continuous violent events.

Leaders in the Presbyterian Church of Colombia are taking great risks in their human rights work and their support of the communities of Colombians who have been displaced by the violence of the forty-year war in their country. They have asked us to act as international accompaniers in order to provide a measure of safety—international eyes—for their work.

The Presbyterian Peace Fellowship is working with PC(USA) World Mission and the Presbyterian Church of Colombia to train and deploy short-term mission workers to Colombia. To date (since 2004) we have trained over 150 volunteers, over 100 whom have served.
