Hello! I'm an M.Div. Student at Union Theological Seminary in NYC, a volunteer coordinator at a soup kitchen and shelter, and an Inquirer in the Presbyterian Church.
I'm excited to go on this delegation with Christian Peacemaker Teams because I have made a commitment to nonviolence in my own life and I want to listen to the stories of those resisting displacement and destruction caused by Turkish and Iranian cross-border military operations.
I am looking forward to listening to their stories of nonviolent resistance. Peace-making and nonviolent resistance sparked my interest in undergrad when I encountered the writings of Dorothy Day and Archbishop Oscar Romero. They demonstrated that loving God and loving neighbor puts one's life at risk. In 2009, I decided to participate in the life of nonviolent resistance and lived for a summer in a Catholic Worker. It truly shaped the way I move in the world. I learned that nonviolence does not always have to be serious, but can be humorous and creative. They also taught me that poverty was systemic violence. I haven't stopped participating in the life of nonviolence. I continue to love and work with those displaced and forgotten in soup kitchens and shelters.
I am grateful for the opportunity to go on this delegation with the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship and Christian Peacemaker Teams!
Any money that is raised in excess of $4000 will go to other trip delegates. Thank you for supporting me and this delegation for peace!
