Hi! I'm a Co-Director of the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship and excited to be going on this delegation in May 2016 to Iraqi Kurdistan with Christian Peacemaker Teams. On this delegation we will visit and learn from people who are resisting displacement and destruction caused by Turkish and Iranian cross-border military operations. I am also really looking forward to learning more about the role that the oil industry plays in the region and hearing what the Kurds have to say about US military intervention in the area. The War in Iraq began when I was in high school. Following and reading about the War in Iraq was what pushed me to begin learning about nonviolence and war resistance, and I am eager to learn more from people who are resisting violence and war in many forms in their local context. This trip will be an important way to undersatnd the history and role of my own country in the region, to witness and support communities who are living out the principles of nonviolence, and to learn firsthand about a region of the world that I hear a lot about in the news, but know very little about in reality. I am grateful for the opportunity to go on this delegation with the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship and Christian Peacemaker Teams!
